UPDATE: Woman hit by car at Lakefield petrol station grateful for support

She thanked those who supported her on Facebook.

The woman who was knocked down by a driver in a car in the early hours of February 28 seems to be doing well at the Life Roseacres Hospital in Germiston.

According to the person who filmed the incident, it happened around 2.40am.

The incident happened at a petrol station on the corner of Lakefield Avenue and Shongweni Street.

Jaundre Keyana Coetzee (20) posted images of herself in hospital on March 4 on her Facebook profile.

She lives in Klopperpark in Germiston.

The images are captioned “Bleeding on the brain, whiplash and a concussion can definitely not get me down. To everybody who supports me, thank you, everyone”.

The woman’s mother, Jaunie Redelinghuis, said Coetzee also suffered scratches on her back.

“Luckily, the bleeding on her brain wasn’t so severe to have it drained,” she added.

She said the man responsible made contact with the police.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened.

She confirmed the man turned himself in but said no arrest has been made.
