Three found dead in Etwatwa house

The mayor will meet with the family of the deceased to pass his condolences.

On March 2, Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, is due to visit the family of three people who were found dead in their house in Etwatwa on February 27.

According to a statement received from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, the three allegedly died of asphyxia after inhaling carbon monoxide fumes from a coal stove.

Although, Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson, Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe, said the exact cause of the deaths is unknown at this stage.

“There were five people in the house, three died and the other two are in hospital,” Maqabe said.

“A community member found them and alerted the police.”

The police are still awaiting the outcome of the post-mortem on the cause of death.

A inquest docket was opened at the Etwatwa Police Station on Tuesday.
