Lancestor Road is the entrance/exit of Actonville, but the wetland is filled with litter.

The illegal dumping on the wetland at Lancaster Road has caused Ward 29 Clr Haseena Ismail to worry about the safety of residents.

The wetland, which is located at the entrance/exit of Actonville, is covered in litter from plastics to paper.

“I have been reporting this issue and it seems like the municipality doesn’t have solutions to the major eyesore at the entrance of Actonville caused by illegal dumping,” Ismail said.

“I have also had various meetings with relevant departments to attend to this issue; however, nothing constructive has come of them.”

Ismail said the stormwater drain on the opposite side of the wetland is also a problem because the litter causes flooding on the road.

“This can cause major accidents resulting in unnecessary injury and even loss of life,” she said.

“Until the municipality attends to this problem the illegal dumping is [a matter that is] escalating daily.”

The City Times contacted the EMM regarding the illegal dumping but no comment had been received at the time of publication.
