Two arrested, drugs worth approximately R500 000 found on property

Authorities received a tip-off.

Two people have been arrested and about R500 000 worth of drugs seized at a property in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings today (February 12).

Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD, said the EMPD’s K-9 unit received a tip-off about suspicious activity at a house in Willow Road, in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings.

After receiving a search warrant from the police’s Provincial Investigative Unit (PIC), members of the EMPD arrived at the property at about 3pm.

Mokheseng said a man and woman were arrested at the house.

Authorities discovered cannabis.

The suspects are due to be charged for possession, dealing and distribution of illicit substances.

Investigations are on-going and more arrests are expected.
