Businessman arrested with illegal firearm

The EMPD received a tip-off from members of the public.

A Somalian businessman in Etwatwa was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on February 7.

The arrest comes after the EMPD’s Community Liaison Unit (CLU) members received a tip-off from community members on February 5.

“For two days running, the EMPD CLU members conducted covert investigations which resulted in establishing for certain that the businessman was, in fact, in possession of an unlicensed firearm,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.
