You have been warned, don’t dial or text your ex

Christmas is a time to be surrounded by loved ones, although the same is not necessarily the case when it comes to New Year’s Eve.

The trend amongst youngsters is to be around friends as you count down the minutes to the beginning of the new year.

Here is a list of dos and don’ts you should consider as we head towards New Year’s Eve parties:

Dos:

• If you will drink alcohol, make sure you do so in a safe environment with people you trust.

• Make sure your cellphone is fully charged, not only to take selfies and videos with but to make calls should you find yourself in a sticky situation.

• Make sure there is at least one responsible driver who will get everyone home safely or at least have money to Uber yourself home after the festivities.

• If possible, bring a jacket or a change of clothes should the weather decide to have all four seasons in one day.

• For pet owners, ensure your dogs are taken care of in case of fireworks in the area.

Don’ts:

• Don’t drunk dial or text your ex. Leave him or her in 2017. You are there to have fun with your friends.

• Don’t get too drunk that you land up passing out and missing out on the countdown.

• Don’t vandalise or break people’s property. Remember you are a guest, you need to treat people’s homes with respect.

• If you are attending a party or social with a large group of people, don’t go to the toilet alone. Always take a friend with you.

• For those of you who will stay home, don’t forget to set your alarm for 11.30pm so that you don’t miss the countdown.
