Sibikwa hosts cultural inclusion again

Sibikwa Arts Centre will again play host to The Shukuma Mzansi! International Community Arts Centres (CAC) Dialogue happening from February 28 to March 2.

The National Department of Arts and Culture again partnered with the centre on Liverpool Road to establish part two of this sectoral dialogue between the Irish, Flemish, French and South African Community Arts Centres.

The intention of Shukuma Mzansi II is to produce a draft framework for the National Community Arts Centres and Programming Policy.

Arts conference a success

The development and implementation of a National Community Arts Centres and Programming Policy is key to realising the CAC’s becoming spaces that offer access to the arts for all, create jobs and give a platform to the artists’ creativity.

The 2018 edition of the CAC dialogue will consist of two segments:

•A three-day conference at the Sibikwa Arts Centre which will mainly focus on policy development incorporating critical sectoral goals and comprise presentations by Irish, Flemish, French and South African experts, interactive workshops and breakaway sessions.

•Post-conference: South African and EU delegates will undertake a study-tour and take part in a mini-conference hosted by the Irish Arts Council.
