Quarrel leads to shooting in Putfontein

Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to shoot his colleague on December 1.

The incident occurred on Du Randt Road in Putfontein at about 9pm.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said it is alleged that the two colleagues were involved in a quarrel at work during the day.

“The problem resurfaced again when the man had to drop off the alleged suspect’s brother in Daveyton,” said Ramaube.

“When they got to the man’s place, he wasn’t there so they called to find out where he was.”

As the victim drove back to Putfontein, he saw his colleague’s vehicle park on the side of Du Randt Road, said Ramaube.

“The man then stopped his vehicle to talk to the man; however, when the man got out of the vehicle, a firearm fell on the ground,” said Ramaube.

Ramaube added that when he saw the firearm, he quickly got into his vehicle and drove off.

“As he was approaching the Putfontein Police Station, the alleged suspect shot twice at the victim’s car and sped off.”

No injuries were reported and no arrest was made.

A case of attempted murder was opened at the Putfontein SAPS.

Police urge anyone who has information, to contact the Putfontein SAPS on 011 845 6300 or 10111.
