Man robbed of R100 000 after withdrawal
Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said on December 6 a man was apparently robbed of a large sum of money in the Benoni CBD, at about 2.30pm.
The spokesperson said he withdrew money and made his way to Luton Road in Benoni South.
As he was about to place an order with a street vendor, a man with a firearm cocked his gun and demanded money from the man.
“Two more armed suspects joined and demanded his car keys,” said Sekele.
“They then searched the car and took the money and his cellphone.
“The suspects then jumped into their getaway Opel Astra motor vehicle.”
A case of armed robbery has been opened.
No arrests have been made.
Sekele warned members of the public against bank followings.
She said victims are often monitored by people within banks, who then pass the information on to those who commit the robbery.
