Residents discouraged from giving gifts to waste service collectors

The municipality has urged residents not to provide gifts to employees of waste management services.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) spokesperson Themba Gadebe said people must refrain from gifts which are monetary or of any other form, especially alcohol, as this negatively affects the rendering of the services.

“In an unfortunate case where employees harass residents for gifts, residents are urged to get employees’ names and/or vehicle registration number,” said Gadebe.

These incidents need to be reported directly to the divisional head for waste management operations Shirleigh Strydom on 061 432 5378.
