Dog flung from moving vehicle

A man witnessed a motorist throwing a puppy out of a moving vehicle yesterday (November 15).

Jacques Koen and his friend were driving along High Road when they noticed a man in a dark blue Nissan 1400 bakkie.

“He slowed down a bit, opened the door and flung the dog out of the car,” said Koen.

He said the man had reduced speed to about 30 to 40km/h.

The Brentwood Park resident screamed at his friend to stop the car.

“We stopped, picked up the dog and tried to chase him, but lost interest because the dog was more important,” Koen added.

The female pooch was not injured.

Koen hopes to keep the animal, but if he can’t he said it will go to a good home.

Benoni SPCA inspector Shiven Bodasing said the society has not had recent reports of people throwing animals from moving vehicles.

He urged those who witnessed such acts to record the vehicle’s registration number and report the incident to the SPCA.

The Benoni SPCA can be contacted on 011 894 2814/5.
