Swallow Road to reopen soon
Parts of Swallow Road in Rynfield, which has been closed off to the public for more than a month, should be reopened by December 7.
“Only residents who live on the road are allowed to use it, but the public needs to use alternative routes to their destination while the road is closed,” Ward 24 Clr Kabelo Mahonko said.
According to Mahonko the anticipated completion time for fixing the road should have been in October, but due to complications such as pipe delivery and electric cables being in the way, the deadline was moved to December.
“The road was closed because it needed to be stabilised,” Mahonko said.
Mahonko explained that water was running down from Barbet Road into Swallow Road where it then became stagnant.
