Your local clinic is here for you

The Northmead Clinic held an open day on November 7 to educate residents about the services they offer.

Local non-profit organisations such as Life Choices Pregnancy Crisis Centre, iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre, Kids Haven, Home-Start SA, The Almond Tree, 3D Academy, Healthcare Christian Fellowship of South Africa and the Sexual Assault Clinic were also present showcasing their services.

The manager of the Northmead Clinic, Sister Sabina Senyatsi, said the clinic is a primary healthcare clinic under the Department of Health.

“All services provided at the clinic are free of charge,” said Senyatsi.

“We plan on having an open day at least once a year just to remind the public about our services.”

Senyatsi urged community members to make use of these services as they work proactively towards the improved health and well-being of families in the area.

The clinic provides the following services:

• Mental health services.

• Antenatal Clinic (ANC).

• Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI).

• Reproductive Health.

• Chronic illnesses.

• Acute care.

• Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic

• Dental services.

• Dietitian.

• HIV testing, treatment and counselling.

• Rehabilitation services: occupational therapist, podiatrist, audiologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, ophthalmologist, optometrist and social workers.

The clinic is looking for more non-government organisations to be part of the Benoni Health Forum.

This clinic is situated at the corner of Aster Street and Hospital Road, Northmead.

They are open Mondays to Fridays from 7.30am until 4.30pm.
