“Winning Miss Benoni has been a dream of mine for years,” de Beer said.
“I did not think I would win after they called the second and first princess.
“I was almost ready to change my clothes when they called my name as the winner.”
The beauty said she entered three times and made it into the top 10 on all three occasions.
De Beer kept trying to win the pageant because she did not want to have the “what if” feeling.
“I am glad that I tried again because this time I won,” she said.
Not only did she win the hearts of the people through the People’s Choice Awards, Benoni won her heart over the years.
“I was born in Benoni and I grew up here,” she said.
“I attended Laerskool Rynfield and Hoërskool Hans Moore where I matriculated in 2014.”
The 21-year-old owns her own boutique which is based in Northmead.
“I recently opened my boutique called Bellavi Boutique and Beauty Salon,” she said.
“After school I worked for SA Chemicals and during this time I began importing items from New York.”
Before receiving the title, the Cloverdene resident said she visited charities.
“This year, I am going to have Christmas parties for two orphanages called Huis Charis and Umephi Huis Impak, Edenvale,” she said.
She will also be part of a project called Santa Sleigh starting on November 24 where she will visit residential areas in Benoni to gather gifts for the less fortunate.
Using the Miss Benoni title, she would like to impact the lives of little girls.
“I want to be a role model to young girls,” she said.
“I would also like to visit old age homes and help out where I can.”
The entrepreneur said she wants to help those who are less fortunate.
“Every hand helps to make the work easier,” she said.
“I can show how one person can make a difference by giving to another.
“If we do not help, who will?”
