Two employees of the SAPS arrested at the Civic Lake

Two employees of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have been arrested on a charge of attempted murder and discharging of a firearm in a municipal public area.

The two men, aged 25 and 34, were arrested on November 9 at the Civic Lake around 2.45pm.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson, Capt Nomsa Sekele, said the complainant claims he was fishing at the lake when the two men allegedly started shooting at him.

The duo, who are being detained at the Benoni Police Station, will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police are investigating the matter.
