Rynpark woman turns 100

Rynpark resident Susanna Elizabeth Scholtz, or better known as Tant Sannie, turned 100 years old on November 8.

To celebrate the day, residents and staff of Rynpark held a birthday party in Sannie’s honour.

Sannie was born in 1917 in Boksburg North.

Her son, Dries Scholtz said she had five children (four of whom are still alive), 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She lived in Boksburg for 89 years but moved to Rynpark in 2006.

Her marriage with her late husband Andries Stephanus Scholtz lasted 49 years.

“She was a housewife and full-time mom for her children,” said Dries.

She is also a religious person and after her husband died she had more time to be involved with her church.

“She was exceptionally active in her Bible study group,” said Dries.

She was a member of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk van Afrika in Boksburg for 68 years.

Members of the church still visit her often.

According to Dries she has always been active where it is expected of her and she truly is loved in Rynpark.

“Her memory is still very good and with the help of a walker she can get to where she needs to be,” he said.

He also said she always enjoyed cooking and is renowned for being an excellent cook.
