Police arrest man after they find ‘hijacked’ vehicle at his residence

A 42-year-old man who opened a case of hijacking was arrested for perjury on November 6 in Maduna Street, Daveyton.

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson Capt Mesh Makole said the man went to the police station and reported a false hijacking case.

“He told police that he was driving his blue VW Golf when he was approached by four men armed with knives who demanded his car keys,” said Makole.

“He said that when he refused, they assaulted him and took the vehicle.”

Mokole said when police went to the complaint’s house for further questioning, they found the vehicle parked in the yard.

The spokesperson said police arrested the man for perjury and he is due to appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
