Sixteen injured in R21 crash near Benoni off-ramp

Sixteen people were injured this morning (October 30) when a taxi rolled on the R21 southbound near the R23 in Benoni.

“ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side in the middle of the road, facing oncoming traffic,” said Russel Meiring, ER24’s spokesperson.

“The passengers had already climbed out of the taxi and were found walking around.”

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that16 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known.
