All donations made to the Miles for Mienke – Sweat for a Cause Fund-raising Initiative will be donated to the Mienke Mulder Trust Fund.
Mienke choked on a milk bottle at her day-care centre on August 28 this year.
The eight-month-old was technically dead for 15 minutes and her brain was damaged.
The sweat-for-a-cause event will be held to raise funds for Mienke’s rehabilitation in Johannesburg.
Event organiser Marise Groenewald said: “She needs to be in a rehabilitation facility in Auckland Park for 16 weeks.”
She explained that the family’s medical aid only approved 27 days.
Mienke was admitted to the rehabilitation centre at the end of September.
Groenewald is a friend of Verna and Ryno Mulder, Mienke’s parents.
She said Ryno works in Nelspruit and has to drive between Benoni and Nelspruit regularly.
The fund-raiser will be held at The Pit Fitness Lab, Unit 5, Sable Industrial Park, 12 Pomona Road, Kempton Park, Gauteng.
Attendees can enter individually or as part of a team.
