Police seize over 1 000 cans of energy drinks

The Ekurhuleni Central Cluster’s crime intelligence members, together with the Benoni SAPS Flying Squad, arrested six men for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.

The men, aged between 22 and 51 years, were arrested on October 4.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said police received information during their crime prevention operation about a man who was transporting stolen goods.

“When police followed up on the information received, they spotted two Kia trucks and a Nissan Almera loaded with cans of Dragon energy drinks,” said Sekele.

The vehicles were stopped and searched on the N12 near the Snake Road off-ramp.

Sekele said the drivers failed to produce invoices for the energy drinks, which totalled about 1 000 cans.

Police confiscated the vehicles and energy drinks.

All men were arrested and charged with being in possession of stolen goods.

They are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
