“The total number of people vaccinated, including the schools, was 7 601,” said assistant director at the DoH, Aisha Sayed.

The vaccinations took place at the Actonville Community Centre and outside Mary Moodley Clinic.

“Even though such a large number of people were vaccinated, there are still some who did not come,” Sayed added.

“We need to stress the seriousness of measles again and emphasise that unless the majority of the community is vaccinated, everyone else is at risk.

“People should still go to the clinic or to their private general practitioners to be vaccinated.”
