Woman hijacked in Rynfield

A woman was hijacked at her place of work in Rynfield this morning (September 28).

The incident happened on Dingler Street, just after 6am.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the woman arrived at work and entered the premises.

When she stopped her blue Opel Astra, she started doing her make-up in the car.

“A Mercedes-Benz entered the premises with two occupants – one of whom wore a balaclava,” said Sekele.

The man wearing the balaclava pointed a firearm at the woman while the other hijacker remained behind the wheel of the Mercedes.

Sekele said the man wearing the balaclava stole her cellphone, ring and vehicle.

A case of hijacking will be opened.
