The accident happened on Du Randt Road, in the morning.
“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the young boy lying on the side of the road,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.
“The light motor vehicle that collided with the boy was parked a short distance away.
“Paramedics assessed the child and found that he had sustained a serious injury to his head, leaving him in a critical condition.”
The child was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions, in an effort to stabilise his vital signs.
He was transported to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for urgent treatment.
The driver of the light motor vehicle was not injured.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
