Man murdered during hijacking

Putfontein SAPS are investigating a murder and hijacking case after a man was gunned down at Dukuza Street, Mayfield.

The incident occurred on September 16 at around 10pm.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube said upon arrival at the scene they found the man laying down and bleeding from two gun shots on his upper body.

“It is alleged that the deceased was reversing his vehicle so he could accompany his girlfriend home when he was suddenly approached by two armed men,” said Ramaube.

“Without saying a word, one of the two men shot him twice and the other pulled the girlfriend out of the vehicle.”

They drove off with a white Toyota double cab.

Ramaube added that the vehicle was later recovered in Etwatwa.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
