Father, son (16) assaulted in Farrarmere house robbery

A man and his teenage son were assaulted in a Farrarmere house robbery this morning (September 16).

The incident happened at a property on Blyde Street, at about 2.30am.

Lt Col Mack Mngomezulu, spokesperson for the police’s Ekurhuleni Central Cluster, said four people entered the house, where the 16-year-old child and his 45-year-old father were sleeping.

Mngomezulu said two of the robbers had firearms and two were wielding pangas.

“There was a struggle in the house and both victims were assaulted and badly injured,” the spokesperson said.

He said the child’s screams alerted neighbours, who called a security company.

When the security company arrived, the robbers had fled.

The father and son were both hospitalised.

At this stage, police can confirm two cellphones and a laptop were stolen.

A case of house robbery has been opened.
