Police search for man who apparently stabs brother to death

Police are searching for a man who is believed to have stabbed his younger brother to death on September 7.

The incident, which involved three brothers, happened in Mayfield Extension One.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that three brothers were sharing the same residential place, when the middle one decided to move out of the house as he found a place to rent in Minanawe,” said Capt Nomsa Sekele, the police’s Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson.

She said the younger brother (deceased) helped his brother move his belongings from his home.

“Apparently [the suspect] was angry as the middle one was moving out and annoyed by the younger one for assisting him,” Sekele added.

The spokesperson said the two ignored their older brother. As the younger man went into the house to collect his brother’s linen, he was stabbed.

The culprit ran away from the scene.

A murder case was registered at Putfontein Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
