Two men arrested for Wattville murder

The Ekurhuleni Central Cluster Tactical Team arrested two men linked to the murder of a 35-year-old man in Wattville.

The two men, who are in their 20s, were arrested on September 5.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson, said a 19-year-old woman and the now deceased boarded a taxi in the Benoni CBD to Wattville on August 13.

“While they were inside the taxi an argument started between the taxi driver and the deceased,” said Sekele.

“The taxi stopped in Wattville and the girlfriend got off.

“She then heard a bottle break and when she looked back, she saw her boyfriend lying down and his shirt was covered with blood.”

The duo rushed the man and his girlfriend to the O R Tambo Memorial Hospital.

They dropped them off and drove off.

The man was certified dead upon his arrival at the hospital.

They will appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
