Man (30) robbed and murdered in Daveyton

Police are investigating a case of murder after a man was robbed and shot behind the Daveyton Railway Station.

The incident occurred on August 29 at around 6.30pm.

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson, Capt Mesh Makole, said the man and his co-workers were dropped off at on the N12 behind the railway station.

“As they were walking near the open veld, about ten armed men approached them,” said Makole.

“The men threatened them, robbed them of their belongings and instructed them to run.”

Makole added that, as the men were running, a gunshot was fired and one of them was shot in his upper body.

The 31-year-old man was declared dead on scene by paramedics.

The suspects fled and no arrests have yet been made.

Police urge anyone with information to come forward or contact the Daveyton SAPS on 011 845 9800.
