Motorist (22) robbed at Rynfield intersection

A 22-year-old man was robbed at a Rynfield intersection this morning (August 23), police say.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the victim was driving alone and stopped at the intersection of President Steyn and President Boshoff roads at about 6.15am.

The man told police his window was half open and he was smoking.

Sekele said the man was taken by surprise and he remembers having his hoodie pulled over his head.

He was removed from the vehicle.

Although the number of suspects involved in the incident is unclear, Sekele said there was more than one as the victim recalls people talking.

When he was removed from the Hyundai i20 he was kicked once.

During this time, the assailants stole a tablet, bank cards, ID and cash from the vehicle.

No arrests have been made.

A case of common robbery will be opened.
