Woman critically hurt on Pretoria Road

A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was critically injured this afternoon (August 17) when the light motor vehicle she was driving collided head-on with a truck on Pretoria Road.

ER24 paramedics, along with provincial services, arrived on scene at approximately 12.30pm.

The accident happened about a kilometre from the Sentrarand turn-off.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle in a critical condition,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

“Rescue services had to use specialised rescue tools to free the woman from the vehicle.”

Once freed, paramedics treated the woman and provided her with advanced life support interventions.

The woman was transported by ambulance to the Tambo Memorial Hospital for further care.

The driver of the truck escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
