Teenager hospitalised after being hit by a stray bullet

A 15-year-old boy has been hospitalised after being hit by a stray bullet in Chris Hani, Daveyton.

The boy was injured on August 12 at around 3pm.

According to the Daveyton SAPS spokesperson, Capt Mesh Makole, the mother of the teenager said her son went to play soccer with his friends.

“He later came back home and told his mother that his right shoulder was painful,” said Makole.

“When the mother looked, she noticed a deep hole and rushed him to the Daveyton Extension Clinic.”

Makole added that when questioning the boy, the teenager said he was playing when something hot hit him hard from behind.

The clinic confirmed that it was a bullet wound.

The child was later transferred to the Far East Rand Hospital.

A case of attempted murder was opened.
