Stirring the pot to win

The whopping aroma of the simmering food in the competitors' pots at the potjiekos competition on July 30 was one not to be missed.

The competition was held to raise money for LifeLine Ekurhuleni.

A total of R7 000 was raised for the organisation.

Held at the Griffiths Court, members of the South African (SA) Legion also attended the event.

“We are not only raising funds for Lifeline, we also want to teach people about the SA Legion,” said Mary Goby.

Four judges teamed up to taste and assess the dishes made by 10 teams.

First prize was won by André Stephan from the Golden Lions team.

The second prize was won by Chantal Stephan from the Super Wonder team and Logan Pieters won the third prize for his team.

The three winners will have a cook off against three chefs from Tribes Africa at Emperors Palace on September 24.

The overall winning dish will be added to the restaurant’s menu for its year end functions.
