Potjiekos competition winners
The overwhelming aroma of the food simmering in competitors’ pots at the Potjiekos Competition on July 30, was not to be missed.
The competition was held to raise money for LifeLine Ekurhuleni.
A total of R7 000 was raised for the organisation.
Held at the Griffiths Court, members of the South African (SA) Legion also attended the event.
“We were not only raising funds for LifeLine, we also wanted to teach people about the SA Legion,” said Mary Goby.
Four judges teamed up to taste and assess the dishes made by 10 teams.
First prize was won by André Stephan from the Golden Lions team.
The second prize was won by Chantal Stephan from the Super Wonder Team and Logan Pieters won the third prize for his team.
The three winners will have a ‘cook-off’ against three chefs from Tribes Restaurant at Emperors Palace, on September 24.
The overall winner’s dish will be added to the restaurant’s menu for its year-end functions.
