EMPD arrest man for hijacked vehicle on Pretoria Road
Lieut-Col Mack Mngomezulu, corporate communication officer for the police’s Ekurhuleni Central Cluster, said a Mercedes-Benz was hijacked in Russel Street, Western Extension, late last night.
“The police, together with the EMPD, picked up a signal of the hijacked Mercedes-Benz in Benoni,” said Mngomezulu.
“The signal led police to a private premises in Crystal Park where the arrests took place.”
Police then discovered a BMW at the house, which had been hijacked in Springs, along with two rifles and two handguns, which were seized.
The suspects are facing charges of possession of stolen goods, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and hijacking.
The men are due to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
