Man charged for house robbery, rape, being in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on charges of house robbery, rape and being in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

This arrest and incident occurred on July 24, at Wattville.

Actonville SAPS spokesperson, Capt Pheello Mothapo said it is alleged that a woman (31) was doing chores when a man suddenly entered her house and threatened her with a firearm.

“The man allegedly forced himself on the victim and stole some items from the house,” said Mothapo.

“The woman managed to scream for help while the suspect was leaving the house.”

Mothapo added that when the neighbours came out to help, the suspect was in the process of fleeing the scene and they followed him until he entered another house.

The community members called the police who found the man at the house he had run to.

He was changing his clothes with the intention to hide his clothing description.

Police seized two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and the stolen items from the house.

He was charged and detained at the Actonville Police Station.

Mothapo applauded the community members for assisting them to apprehend the suspect and for not taking the law into their own hands.
