Artists working together exhibit their work

The annual Winter Art Exhibition was held from July 4 till 9, at Lakeside Mall.

One of the artists, Mike Jonker stands beside his artwork at the tenth annual Winter Art Exhibition. The exhibition is organised by Artists Working Together and was held from July 4 to 9 at Lakeside Mall.

This exhibition, which is now in its tenth year, is hosted by Artists Working Together (AWT), a Benoni-based art club.

The club consists of several independent artists who unite to market themselves. They are not part of major art galleries.

Nine paintings and six charity squares were sold, which raised a total of R830 to be donated to the Benoni SPCA.

Secretary of AWT, Jenny Bayle said there were 92 entries for the Choose Your Favourite Artist Competition, which was won by Sinathemba Jingxeni.

The overall favourite artist was Danie Strydom.

The creations of Larry Mervitz, Katinka Meiring, Elaine Marx, Des Price, Paul Botes, Babs Putar, Mike Jonker, Sally Lloyd, Jenny Bayley and Marlene McCulloch were also displayed at the exhibition.
