A man was effectively fined R10 000 under penalty of six months imprisonment, after being found guilty on a charge of unlawfully slaughtering animals at a place other than an abattoir.

Diederik Johannes Myburgh was arrested in connection with the case where 861 (initially reported as 1 000) donkey skins and seven tiger skins were found on a plot in Benoni Agricultural Holdings on May 29.
