The former Benoni High School learner died on April 8.

She was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Lakefield Avenue on March 17, and was in a coma from the time she was admitted to hospital until her death.

Cominetti’s mother, Pamela, said she founded the NPO in June, hoping to keep her daughter’s legacy alive.

“The mission is to develop arts in underprivileged communities because Chanelle lived for dance, so we thought we would continue her legacy,” Pamela said.

Chanelle’s dream was to perform at the Grammy Awards and to be a celebrity.

Pamela said the NPO has already started supporting a dance studio and a dance group in Reiger Park, by helping disadvantaged people to join these groups for them to live out their passions.

“Some of these children are dancing in their socks because their parents cannot afford shoes,” Pamela said.

She asked the public to support the NPO by donating dance wear.
