Help is here for family members
The new Free Family Members’ Support Group offers community members a caring, supportive environment with people who truly understand how it feels to have a friend or family member dealing with a mental health issue.
The group held its first meeting in June.
The meetings are held every first and third Wednesday of the month and will be hosted at Life Glynnview Psychiatric Hospital, 129 Howard Ave, in Western Extension.
The support group is run by the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG).
According to group leader, Karen Robson, by sharing personal experiences, members are able to give each other the irreplaceable value of mutual support and to share coping mechanisms with one another.
