Boyfriend acquitted of attempted murder

A man who was charged with the attempted murder of his girlfriend was acquitted in the Benoni Regional Court on May 31.

Magistrate Mitzi Schutte found Charles Ndhlovu not guilty.

He pleaded not guilty at the start of his trial on September 22 in the Benoni Regional Court, of the attempted murder of his girlfriend of 10 months, Ntombekhaya Tofu.

Tofu, a Chief Albert Luthuli Park resident, allegedly had an altercation with Ndhlovu at her home on April 9.

Forensic evidence acquitted the ex-boyfriend.

The court accepted evidence that Tofu got the acid on herself, after trying to throw it on her boyfriend.
