Bunny Park judgement made

In the case of the Bunny Park interest groups versus the Ekurhuleni metro, the South Gauteng High Court ruled the metro was not in contempt of court, but found they did not entirely fulfill their side of the settlement reached between the parties last year.

The accused remains in custody (Stock image).

The judge granted some requests made by both parties, while rejecting others.

The metro must now:

Appoint more veterinarians to sterilise the bunnies
Feed the animals in the park at their cost
Separate unhealthy bunnies from healthy ones
Have the unhealthy bunnies treated or humanely euthanised, depending on the conclusion of a qualified professional.

On the other hand, the Bunny Park interest groups, Save the Bunny Park Animals (STBPA) and Ban Animal Trading (Bat), may not:

Enter the park
Feed the animals over the fence
Post negative comments about the metro’s Bunny Park staff on social media platforms.
