Man receives 30 years for murder

A 56-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment for murder, being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The sentence was handed down in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on June 21.

Christopher Mans shot and killed Eric Maluleke (51) in Bapsfontein, near Pretoria Road, on November 9, 2016.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson, Const Justice Ramaube, said Mans shot the deceased about four times in his upper body and fled the scene.

Mans was arrested on November 11, 2016, in Witfield, Boksburg.

He is now serving his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
