“The domestic worker was eating breakfast in her room at the back of the house when she heard a noise,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele.

Sekele said the woman thought nothing of it, as she suspected her employer had arrived on the property.

When she heard another noise, she went to investigate.

“Stop where you are if you don’t want to die” were the terrifying words one of two intruders said to her as she came out of her room, according to police.

“They ordered her not to scream and she was taken into the house, bound with cable ties and locked in a bathroom,” Sekele said.

The robbers ransacked the house.

A third person was waiting in a getaway vehicle and the suspects also made off with a car they stole at the property.

It’s not clear how the suspects entered the property, but Sekele said it is believed they jumped over a wall.

According to the domestic worker, the men didn’t appear to be armed.

A case of house robbery has been opened.
