The suspect (24) was arrested in his Kingsway home (near Modderbee) on May 23, at about 1pm.
Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe said it is alleged that the victim, who is believed to be in her 20s, met the suspect through Facebook a few weeks ago.
“On May 22, the man allegedly sent the woman transport money for them to meet in person,” said Maqabe.
“The two met later that day at the Kingsway taxi rank and went to the suspect’s house.”
Maqabe added that the suspect told a friend the next day he had done something bad and asked the friend to call the police.
Upon the police’s arrival at the suspect’s home, they found the woman’s body.
Police said it is unclear how the victim died.
