Municipality fills senior positions

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has filled several senior management positions.

These are the appointments:

• Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Gugu Pride Malaza-Duda

• Chief Operations Officer (COO) – Lesiba Mojapelo

• Chief Information Officer – Tumelo Kganane

• Chief of Police – General Isaac Mapiyeye

According to EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe, Malaza-Duda has a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.

“She has a wealth of experience cutting across private and public institutions,” said Gadebe.

“She has been at the helm of finances in credible institutions such as the SABC and FNB (Internet and Telephone Banking).

“Her role as VP: Strategy and Risk Integration for Africa at Anglo Gold Ashanti is expected to contribute immensely to the prudent and sound management of Ekurhuleni’s public purse.”

Gadebe said Mojapelo served Ekurhuleni in various capacities, such as Acting Executive Director (HOD): Infrastructure Services, general manager (HOD): 2010 and Special Projects and the director of roads and stormwater, among other things.

He holds a Master’s degree in transport engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).

Kganane has a BCom Honours in informatics and brings a wealth of experience from the City of Johannesburg, said Gadebe.

The spokesperson said Mapiyeye boasts 31 years of experience in policing.

He has a B-Tech degree in traffic safety management and holds a public administration qualification.

“Mapiyeye has served Ekurhuleni with distinction in many capacities, including as Acting Director: Special Services, Municipal Courts: Coordinator and Acting Director: Technical and Logistics.

The appointments were effective May 2.
