The non-profit organisation has built on its growing seedling project, and now has another offering.

“We have now broadened our horizons and are manufacturing polytunnels, which will allow our seedling supporters to grow their vegetables all year round,” said the centre’s Andrew Wessels.
“We not only manufacture them on our premises at our head office, but also do the installation at clients’ premises.”
Wessels explains the benefits
• It will increase the length of the growing season, allowing crops that are difficult or impossible to grow outdoors to be included in the permaculture garden
• Provide better growing conditions. A good example is tomatoes. In a good year these ripen outdoors, but are generally much more reliable in a polytunnel
• Provide a winter growing season. This, I believe, is one of the most valuable uses of the polytunnel, and with the correct crops, it can provide vegetables virtually throughout the year
• Provide an environment for growing and propagating rare species.
“Manger Care Centre’s manufacturing team will be able to provide you with an onsite consultation to establish your requirements, type and size of polytunnel needed and will quote you based on your requirements,” said Wessels.
The team can also do customised irrigation, customised polytunnels and their extension officer can provide you with mentoring, coaching and training on plant production.
