Gomes identified as stabbing victim
One of the stabbing victims killed at a scrapyard in Pretoria Road on April 26 has been identified as the owner of Speedy’s Auto Panel, Manuel Gomes (73).
An employee of the business was also found dead.
Gomes was a Springs resident but owned the business in Benoni for two years.
According to a relative, the business was more of a hobby than a financial opportunity and the pensioner only had the scrapyard business due to his passion for vehicles and to keep himself busy.
The relative said he will be remembered for being a hard worker, a provider for his family and for always putting his family first.
He is survived by his daughter, two sons and grandchildren.
No arrests have been made in connection with the murders.
