Mom walks into armed robbery at local mall

A woman has been left traumatised after she walked into an armed robbery in progress in the Ackermans store at the Brentwood Park Mall this morning (May 10), at about 11am.

The shopper, who lives in Brentwood Park, left her young daughter with her brother in the car while she popped into the retailer.

The door was half open when she entered Ackermans, she said.

“As I pushed the door open I saw two armed men on my left holding up two of the staff members,” said the woman, who did not want to be named.

Within seconds, another armed robber – standing to the right of her – pulled her arm.

The man went through her purse and pockets, but found no valuables.

She said she was able to run out of the store soon afterwards, as she was not far from the door.

“I thought I was dreaming,” she said, explaining that the ordeal happened in a flash.

“I am in shock and have not stopped crying or shaking.”

Police could not be reached for comment.

The Brentwood Park Mall’s security director confirmed the incident.
