Domestic worker tied up during robbery

A domestic worker was tied up and assaulted during a house robbery.

The incident occurred on May 2 in Lloyd Road, Northmead at around 9.45am.

Ekurhuleni Central Cluster spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee said it is alleged that the domestic worker was doing her daily duties.

“Suddenly, she was approached by four men and one of them asked for water,” said Essakjee.

“As she went to get the water, the alleged suspects slapped her and took her to one of the rooms and tied her up.”

Essakjee said the woman was tied up while the men searched the home.

The intruders fled with a TV, jewellery, a laptop, camera, home theatre system and an undisclosed amount of money.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

No injuries were reported and no arrests were made at the time of publishing.
