Bring your cake on May 4

Time is running out to enter for the 10th annual Benoni City Times Mother’s Day Cake Bake Competition happening on May 4.

A taste for perfection without arrogance is what former Great South African Bake-Off competitor Shawn Govender is looks for. Cakes need to be visually appealing and well put together no matter how simple the bake. Cherrylane Gourmet Café in Northmead plays host to this event, which aims to be bigger and better, with HunTer as the entertainer.

To enter or for more information, contact Sharon Husselmann or Clarice Mncwabe at the City Times, on 011 425 0164 from 8.30am to 4pm (Monday to Friday).

Bakers must be at the café on the corner of 14th Avenue and Fifth Street, Northmead by 7.30am to register and drop off their cakes.

The cakes will be registered according to the following categories: professional, fun, tarts (sweet and savoury), raw cakes, cupcakes and tartlets.

After the cake registration, the cakes will be judged and then enjoyed by the invited guests of Benoni.

The judges are: Loraine Krugel, Berry Legg (better known as Miz Gooz Berry), Xanthe Weissnar, Wendy Bernhardt, Moira Wall, Paul Smith, Shawn Govender, Dejané Poil and Charmelle Retief.
